Here are some links to what is going on locally. Visitors to the area are more than welcome to join in, whether it be tennis at the Lorton Tennis Club or events at the Yew Tree Hall across the road from the cottage. You can take part in a variety of activities including talks by guest speakers, coffee mornings and film nights. See the notice board outside the hall.

Your Daily Bread

If you like freshly baked bread, the Lorton Village Shop stocks bread from The Coffee Kitchen in Cockermouth, delivered daily. Or if you find yourself in Cockermouth on a Saturday morning, it's worth popping into The Coffee Kitchen as on Saturdays, they make a range of speciality breads. Our favourite is their Sundried tomato and Basil Loaves

Cockermouth Live

In venues all around the town and an eclectic mix of musical styles, Cockermouth Live is on from the 2nd - 5th July 2026

Loweswater Show

If sheep, ponies and all thing rural interests you, the Loweswater Show is being held on Sunday 6th September 2026. There's fell races and Cumberland Wrestling amongst other things

Taste Cumbria

Taste Cumbria in Cockermouth is being held on the 26th & 27th September this year and to quote them "Cockermouth’s flagship festival in September is now a firm fixture in every food fan’s calendar". The Christmas event is on the 5th & 6th December 2026
